It is official: CIVICUS has decided to join the Climate Observer Partnership's COP29 campaign. CIVICUS is a non-profit organization with its main headquarter in Johannesburg, South Africa, that brings together various civil society groups and activists from around the world. Its main mission is to promote and strengthen civil society actions and initiatives around the globe. The organization has decided to join the COP29 campaign of Emin Huseynov, leader of the Climate Observer Partnership group. Since its foundation, the group has worked to promote and protect human rights, fundamental freedoms and the environment, through events, petitions, socio-climatic initiatives and articles. The cooperation and partnership with CIVICUS are particularly important for the success of the COP29 campaign, due to the similarity of the struggles that both groups are fighting for, but above all because of the importance that CIVICUS attaches to civil society. With more than 15,000 members in over 175 countries and a wide range of civil society groups - from voluntary organizations to philanthropic foundations - the organization is one of the pillars, a backbone of civil society today. The cooperation between these organizations for COP29, which will be held in the capital Baku from 11 to 22 November, is aimed at strengthening the ultimate goals of both groups and thus promoting the activities of civil society worldwide.
